In this age when elderly mothers and fathers are facing problem living with their grown up children, Kailash Giri from Hinota village of Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh provide a modern example of ‘Shravan Kumar’ ( a man who carried his blind mother and father on his shoulders in ‘Ramayana’ time).
A 35-year-old Kailash Giri is moving around the religious places in India carrying his 80-year old mother Kirti Devi on his shoulder for the last 12 years.
Kailash mother had desired to visit all ‘pilgrimage’ (Tirthdhams) destinations of India after Kailash recovered from long ailment. Twelve years back Kailsh’s mother expressed her desire to fulfill her wish to visit all ‘tirthdham’ in India but Kaislash had no money to do so but he did not want to disappoint her mother so he decided to follow ‘Shravan Kumar’s’ style of carrying parents on shoulders.
Kailash carries his mother in one swing on his one shoulder and on other shoulder he carries one more swing in which he carries day-to-day things.
Kailash had already covered shrines like Ayodhya, Lord Jagannath temple, Kashi, Tirupati, Ayodhya, Rameshwaram, Madurai and Prayag. Kailash cover 4 to 5 kilometers distance in a day.
Kailash Giri is a great example for a people who do not care about their aged parents.
Really, it happens only in India
