The new toffee-sized cardiac monitoring silicon locket is taking shape at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai. This new monitor can store a week’s ECG data. A user can also send data card to a hospital to download ECG. If this monitor detects abnormalities, it can automatically transmit the last few seconds of ECG data to a central server using a mobile phone interface.
This new silicon locket cardiac monitor has a software which sends data to the mobile phone. When a user feel uneasy he can press ‘mark’ button on locket and send SMS containing marked readings to the doctor.
In India where the heart attacks are reported three times more than Europeans, this new user-friendly cardiac monitor is bliss.
