This is strange but as per unique custom followed by farmers of the Pagta in Bihar’s Samstipur district, unmarried girls of the village are invited to till the land for a day to improve productivity of the land.
It is a centuries old tradition that farmers invite unmarried girls of the village to till the land as they believe holy steps of unmarried girls will save their land from becoming infertile.
Total three girls are invited to perform the ritual and they are worshiped before performing the ritual. The chosen girl says, although they have to bear some pain, it is their volunteer act to increase land’s productivity.
